Ive been following the terrible humanitarian crisis of thousands - TopicsExpress

Ive been following the terrible humanitarian crisis of thousands of unaccompanied children spilling over the border in Texas and it all just breaks my heart. I just keep thinking: how awful and miserable must your situation be that you put your child, your most precious possession, on a journey across thousands of miles of dangerous terrain, unaccompanied, with the hope of them finding something better. Now, families are telling their kids to seek out border patrol guards, knowing they will go to detention centers--and parents still feel that is better and safer than where they are. Detention is better than the life they are leaving. Regardless of paperwork and documentation, people are people and although I would prefer LEGAL immigration to be the norm, an 8 year old doesnt have the wherewithal or brain development to make that a reality. I am sure many of you disagree...and this is America and you are welcome to...Im just tired of seeing so much hatred in my timeline when the dreadedillegals being decried are six and eight year olds... (And Im not naïve...I know 40 year olds jump the border too; however, the immediate pressing crisis is comprised of people whose median age is 9 1/2...)... There is no easy solution; however, our outdated, non-realistic immigration laws need to be revisited and revised. This is not a problem endemic to a single President or politician but belongs to the government as a whole.
