Ive been getting quite a few enquiries about the Elstree book given the stupid prices its going for (even £75 in an Oxfam shop in Chelmsford). There are no plans to reprint the Bray or Elstree Years books, so I have decided to publish the book Id first planned in the early nineties. Hammers Heritage of Horror will discuss Hammers films between The Quatermass Xperiment (1954) and To the Devil a Daughter (1975). It will be like our Location book, A4 portrait, with a different section on each film. It will not be a reprint of the Bray or Elstree books. Im abandoning the chronological account that fragmented facts on each individual film that some didnt like in those books and also the oral history approach since the interview quotes have already been published. So itll be more concise, more focused on the films, but still as detailed. Ill be republishing the Censor documentation with lots of rare pix, many in colour like the Location book. No date as yet and well be updating the website soon. If costs permit we may try to bring it out in a limited edition hardback (about 300 copies), but need watch the cover price, so its not too silly for you.
