UNICEF, led by UNICEF Deputy Executive Director Yoka Brandt and Barron Segar, U.S. Fund for UNICEF Senior Vice President of Development, rings the NYSE Closing Bell® to celebrate the release of the world version of John Lennon’s Imagine to help inspire a global movement toward a better future for children. The bell ringing will be followed by a performance of Imagine by the Professional Performing Arts School Choir and a display of the World Version video. About the World Version Release of Imagine On New Year’s Eve, Wednesday 31 December, John Lennon’s anthem to hope and peace, Imagine, will be performed in Cape Town, London, Rio de Janeiro and New York, to help inspire a global movement toward a better future for children. The events will also feature the debut of a new ‘World Version’ video of the classic Lennon song, made in collaboration with renowned DJ and music producer David Guetta and featuring famous voices including UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors Katy Perry, Angelique Kidjo, Pau Gasol and Yuna Kim, Neymar, Daniela Mercury, Thalia, Priyanka Chopra, Adam Lambert, will.i.am, Nicole Scherzinger; UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake. Astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti sings from the International Space Station, adding her voice to those members of the public who have uploaded their own versions through the Touchcast app. On 31 December 2014 on Spotify, the music streaming site, DJ and music producer David Guetta will play Imagine during his two-hour gig starting at 11:00 p.m. The UNICEF-led #IMAGINE initiative is joining forces with action/2015 – a global coalition of over 1000 organisations – to shine a light on children’s issues ahead of global agenda-setting meetings in 2015. These include the Financing for Development conference in Addis Ababa in July when governments and their partners will decide a strategy for financing international development goals, the UN General Assembly in September, when world leaders will set out new global development goals for the next 15 years, and the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris in December.
