Ive been invited to a round the table discussion on *Prevent* by Manchester City Council in partnership with Greater Manchester Police as a key representative from the Manchester area. The outcome of this discussion will help to shape community engagement and the community approach to Prevent in Manchester over the next 12 months. The briefing Ive received is that they have recently experienced a number challenges locally, nationally and internationally which have had the potential to impact on the strong community relations in the city. They recognise the concerns of communities and some organisations across the country about the government’s Prevent strategy and the feeling that the strategy has failed to engage with communities. This was a key message from the ‘Big Questions’ community dialogue event earlier in the year. They would like to use this round table discussion to have some honest dialogue about these issues and how they can move forward; recognising the different dynamics and vulnerabilities associated with this agenda. The discussion will also be informed by Councillor Bernard Priest ---- Deputy Leader of Manchester City Council, Jim Battle - Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner for Greater Manchester, David Wells - North West Counter Terrorism Unit. Muhammad Dilwar Hussain, Sharif Abu Laith, Zhill Abd Rahman, Ships Miah, Azad Ali, Asim Qureshi, Roshan Muhammed Salih Do you have any good points that you believe I should bring up?
