Ive been listening to Joe Stiglitz on how inequality harms us. He is credited with saying that the market is the problem. But everything he mentions involves government giving special favors. His solution to this problem involves more government--just the right kind of government. Mostly, though, he seems to be talking about where inequality comes from, not why inequality, itself, is bad. My view is that less government would solve every problem that Joe identifies. But hes never going to get the right kind of government because devilish jobs call for devils, so our rulers will never have good motives. The only possible check on them are energized voters, who want smaller government. There was such a movement back in 2010, but the powers of big government mobilized the IRS to deny them the right to organize and speak.
