Ive been quiet about Ferguson and Eric Garner to a degree, not because Ive ducked my head in the sand, but because Ive been trying to get Gods heart about the issues of justice and racism in America. Yes, God has an issue with excessive force from police officers, but he also has an issue with Black on Black crime, and an issue with innocent bloodshed in the womb. To me, the African American community is like the woman with an issue of blood, who was made worse by her handlers.(Mark 5:24-34). And we are hemorrhaging not only from rogue individuals from cultural institutions meant to empower and protect, but also race baiting physicians that have kept us focused on victimization. Yet, unlike the woman with the issue of blood, weve added insult to injury with our own self inflicted wounds of violence. Nevertheless, in all of our marching and protesting in crowded streets, if we can only muster up enough faith to lay hold of The Healer in our midst, the bleeding can stop, and we can be changed from victim to victor.
