Ive been reading peoples responses to the news of Robin Williams recent untimely death - reading things like suicide is selfish, suicide is chicken shit, why didnt he think about his family?, and the like... Heres the thing: until we understand depression, and the hopelessness that accompanies it - until we understand the disease of addiction, and how that interacts with every other part of our life - until we know what it looks like to wake up and see only darkness despite everything we have - we dont get to judge. Besides - what did judgment ever get you?
