Ive been wanting to post this for a really long time but like everything else in my life i havent really had time to get around to it. Those who know me well know Im a HUGE fan of the band Switchfoot and an even BIGGER fan of the lead singer Jon Forman. Because of how open I am about how great I think they are, I have had a few debates with friends on whether or not a christian should be listening to Switchfoot (because it is technically an alternative rock band) and if their music is even christian at all. Sometimes my friends and I would come to an agreement and other times we would maintain our different points of view (and that was always fine). When it comes to the area of music and what makes a band christian or not is always a highly debated topic and I can honestly see where some people are coming from who disagree with christian rock. But like all things in life it all boils down to a heart issue and this video really shows whos heart is in the right place. In this video you will see a church that is so convinced Jon Forman and his band are anti Christian that they protested at one of their concerts. Some of the things they say are pretty awful and if there are little kids around I wouldnt even let them hear whats being said. But thats not what gets me about this video. About 2 min in Jon Forman comes walking up offering them water. If you listen close you can even hear him thanking them for being there. At another point you can hear him telling them that he loves them. I understand that not everyone agrees with their style of music but I do believe this a great example of a christian sharing the love of Christ to other even when they hated him. Reminds me of the end of the parable of the good Samaritan when Jesus asked who proved to be a better neighbor. Needless to say... Im an even bigger fan because this guys really lives out his faith!
