Ive been writing the second novel in the Kendall Parker Mysteries, tentatively titled FOUL PLAY. Here is a little unedited teaser; The men drove in silence and drank from plastic water bottles for the first mile as Brooks concentrated on maneuvering through traffic along Moreland Avenue before he steered the unmarked sedan onto I-20 headed west toward downtown. Parker, however, spent much of his time contemplating what the hell he had done to demand his presence early on a Monday morning before Lieutenant Russell while still officially on leave. He concluded it made no sense. “Are you sure you don’t know what Lieut. Russell wants with me? I told you already, I don’t. Brooks sounded about as bothered as a good ole mama’s boy from Texas could muster. All he said was to get your ass downtown ASAP.” He glanced over at Parker. “Maybe he feels you’ve taken leave long enough and he wants you back in the department.” “Hardly,” Parker said, masking his ire. “I never said that I was returning.” “You willing to give up your career?” Brooks frowned, keeping his focus forward. “Just like that?” Im still weighing my options.
