Ive enjoyed reading the posts from those who are counting their blessings every day. As a man who tries to do that himself, Im not sure I could limit myself to just one thing every day. I usually take this time to reflect upon the year past and all the things I truly am thankful for. The year has had its ups and downs for me. I started the year uncertain about my job in Charleston, and finally was laid-off in March. It was at that point I once again discovered that 49 was old in the job market. I am truly thankful for good friends though who came to my aid, stood up for me, and helped me land the job I have now here in North Carolina. I hated to leave Cross Lanes (and yes, you know exactly why...yes, YOU!) but this was a good opportunity and I am thankful for the support of those who love and care for me who have made this transition go as smoothly as it has. Ive also found myself missing my good friends from the past. Last years class reunion was so wonderful. I guess Ive reached the point in my life where you truly value good & faithful friendships. Our class has managed to stay close for many years. Although we have drifted apart due to jobs, family, etc., we have managed to stay close in each others heart. I truly do love each and every one of you, MVHS Class of 82, and as Ive said repeatedly we REALLY need to get together...and soon! As I write this rambling post, I would be remiss if I did not mention the fact that I have two of the best parents that a boy from Welch, WV could ever ask for. My Mother and Dad have been there with me, comforting and guiding me, every step of this now 3+ year journey as a single man. Its had its ups and down, its had its heartaches and sorrows, but overall its made me a stronger man. I couldnt have done it without the love and support of my parents, as well as all of my dear, dear friends & family who chose not to turn their back on me when the going seemed rough and the rumors were flying. I truly do value your love and support (and yes YOU are also at the top of that list)! So tomorrow, as I drive home to celebrate Thanksgiving with my Mother, Dad, & Aunt Betty, I will truly reflect upon all the things I am thankful for and am truly blessed with. I hope you will take the time tomorrow as well to look back and realize that life is good and count your blessings. I love you all, and wish you a truly Happy Thanksgiving!
