Ive given considerable thought to this and I do not say it lightly. I am convinced that a sizeable chunk of the so-called sane Republicans are actually white supremacists. They genuinely fear that Obama and the growing number of voters of color threaten life as they know it. In some of them this belief operates consciously, but for others, it lies paraphrased just below that level, shaping their beliefs and actions. In a word, they are fearful people whose human-hood trembles on the edge of collapse. I do not know how this will play out.
