Ive got a night off. Yippee!!!!! Well I got home about 8pm. I turned on the ABC and they had a show based on another networks TV hit, The Biggest Looser. It held my interest for a while, but, I,m a surfer so I moved on and caught the end of X Factor which I think, may be on the commercial channel the ABC was quoting. It was the final judging of a couple of young women who were pretty well neck and neck in their quest to make the final episode of X Factor. I didnt get to hear them sing, but it appears they were both well supported by the judges and the public. This is a good program by reputation and I was interested..... That was until one of the judges, Danni Minogue was shown in a flashback from an earlier episode telling tonights winner, and yes it was a rhetorical statement, What were you doing singing in a band, dont you sing in a band again or something close to that. Now I admire you Minogue girls for what you have achieved with your talent and ambition which you have turned into spectacular careers BUT, Danni, please let me tell you WHY people play in bands!!!! Not everybody gets to have TV exposure as actors or media personalities, not everybody has the confidence and the support that you and your sister have had. A hit single or a one- off album does not a career make. Its OK to cut your chops in a band and to learn to sing it LIVE. Sometimes that takes a while to develop as you would know. Singing with a band can seriously assist with this! Good luck to you Danni, I know you and sis are decent people but live music, played by humans is under threat particularly in Australia. We really need young bands with talented people out front building careers on the experience. You have a lot of aspiring youngsters looking up to you. Maybe, go out and sing with a band yourself!!!
