Ive got a pretty decent size of a TDC audience on this thing which I hope to use as a temporary soapbox. Im four days away from having back surgery, gonna have some screws and whatnot put in my back to hopefully get full use out of my left leg again. There are many things that led to this having to happen, playing sports with reckless abandon my whole life, the army and the prison system for 20 years. What they didnt tell me as a young man in turn-out when I started TDC was not to wear objects on my duty belt directly on the spine. There are enough of you who will see this that I hope will talk about this in your turnouts and alert younger folks about this hazard, it is a common injury to law enforcement and corrections. When you sit with an object directly at the base of your spine, over time, it will cause injury. Sorry if this drug on, but it is in my opinion worthy of conversation to maybe prevent this to the kids just coming on the job.
