Ive had my dogs for over 3 years now and we have been fostering pit bulls almost as long as weve had ours. So I dont really think about their breed when someone comes to my door and knocks. My dogs bark so loud that I dont have to worry if they know that I have dogs. If they dont want near them, they have the chance to get off the porch and on the other side of the gate before I open the door. For those still standing on the porch and apparently still willing to join us, I always warn that my dogs are good, but have no manners...... I really am trying to work on it ..... So last weekend Kasie had a friend over and when his dad came to pick him up I gave the warning as I opened the door and my dogs tried climbing over each other, butts all a wiggle, happy bully faced smiles and kisses. Even with their lack of manners they charmed our visitor and gave him a new enlightened view of pit bulls/bullies. Hes in law enforcement and said that before meeting our dogs, the only pits hed met were those that were raised in homes where he and other officers were very familiar.
