Ive joined a bipartisan group of Senators in introducing the Medical Device Access and Innovation Act, which will repeal the Medical Device Tax that was included in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. I’m proud to be a leader in the effort to repeal this onerous tax. A tax on medical devices is a tax on innovation, on small businesses, and on our collective ability to discover the new medical breakthroughs that could improve the lives of patients. This tax has already harmed job creation, and threatens thousands more jobs going forward. In Colorado in particular, over a dozen medical device producers have expressed their concern that this tax will hurt their ability to grow, expand, and innovate. While our healthcare system certainly requires more than just this reform, repealing the Medical Device Tax is an important step towards creating the kind of modern, intelligent healthcare system our country requires. Repealing this tax was one of the tenets of my Four Corners plan for Colorado, and is an issue I have worked on going back to my time in the House of Representatives. I’m excited to help lead the charge here in the United States Senate as well. Read more about this tax here: taxfoundation.org/article/aca-medical-device-tax-bad-policy-need-repeal
