Ive just been in alpha/theta state for the last few minutes and this has come to consciousness. The Enneagram could be made simple in terms of metaphor as regards there are 3 different types of people. Love/approval types, security types and control types. I was thinking how best to relate this - how about a car..? Love/approval types are driven by their need for it so they are the 1) Accelerator - the energy wants to go towards and forwards and the quicker the better. They either want to get to experience connection, status/achievement or significance so lets step on that gas hard and full throttle. How fast can this baby go? Security types are the opposite, they want to go for the 2) Brake, both hand brake and the main one if possible - sometimes at the same time! They hold themselves back out of fear and wanting to be safe, they may feel like wishing to park up somewhere quiet for a few hours (or years) and mull things over, or slow the hell down this tempestuous speed as were almost nearly gonna break the speed limit if were not careful!, or put the brake on a destination because it no longer feels joyful and they dont wish to being going there anymore! So what then are the control types I asked my unconscious mind? They are the 3) Steering Wheel of course as they want to take over the direction of the energy flow and be in control as regards having the ability to steer where they wish to go. They are neither so occupied about braking or accelerating, they feel if they take the wheel that will gain that control regardless. They are either wishing to steer to gain complete leadership of this vehicle and be the Chief driver, or block other road users from passing attempting to become a mobile chicane or allow others to pass if they are good but speedier motorists in order to keep the peace on the roads. Or they wish to steer so perfectly this fine looking machine on wheels every time they pull up at the lights they are suprised folks who do diving scores arent there to hold up big boards saying 10 as the journey was simply flawless! Right off to bed, I have a client first thing. I love it when a plan comes together, except this wasnt planned?! :-)
