Ive never written a philosophy of ministry before so I figured Id do that...this is how I roll... Ministry, in whatever form or venue, is ultimately about introducing an individual to Jesus Christ – not only as a historical idea or philosophical proposition but as a real present reality. Salvation is not only forgiveness but also the very presence of God bringing life where there was death; remaking us back into the original masterpieces He created us to be. Salvation isn’t so much about making bad people good as making dead people alive. The Hebrew word *shalom* – peace – doesn’t mean a lack of negative things like the English word peace, but the presence of all the good that God intended for us to experience when He created us. That peace comes not by our own effort but as an effect of the presence of God Himself. My goal in ministry is to foster an environment where people can be free to heal and grow in that *shalom* and invite others into a redemptive space that is healing – because God is Himself there, present and active. I believe in multigenerational and multi-ethnic worship services and church community because we lose out on the voice of God when we shut ourselves into our own narrow segments of society. I believe the Seventh-day Adventist Church has a unique message that reveals the character of God and His intent to bring *shalom* not only individually but soon on a world-wide scale when He returns.
