Ive noticed recent posts on facebook from many people I love ... posts about hard times, tiring weeks, tough situations. This makes me sad, but its also made me think. Remember when Paul was in prison? His life was pretty crummy; yet he spent the night in worship. From the depths of his dark place, he raised his voice and declared God, You are holy! Church, be very careful not to subconsciously say to God Ill wait for my breakthrough from You, then Ill worship. By focusing on the darkness were in, by complaining about whats going on, we are taking our eyes off of Jesus. Complaining and worship cannot come from the same mouth just as fresh water and salt water cannot flow from the same stream. This is not a post about pinpointing various negative things Ive seen: this is a post from a leader whose heart is hurting because Im seeing people losing an intimacy with God that could be so sweet, even in the dark times. Draw near to Him, and He will draw near to you.
