Ive noticed that A LOT of people have said Why are you comparing Sec to Mow?! Mow is in his pedigree! uh... No he isnt. Fair Play is in both Mow and Secretariats pedigrees. YET do NOT be deceived by this. Secretariat has the largest heart of any TB race horse. Ever. He also had one of the best conformations of any TB. Now, Mow was a great horse, dont get me wrong. But lets be honest. He had Barely any competition, not due to his greatness, but because there just Wasnt. Sir Barton was a Superb horse, but not as Elite as people claim he was. Mow won a 100 length victory against Hoodwinked, a horse who only won 3 races in his entire racing career. Impressive? Eh... Not really. Now what im trying to say is that Fair Play is NOT the reason for champion horses... Secretariat was able to do what he did purely on his 22 pound engine, he could of ran for 20 minutes and still have been ready for more. Mow on the other hand, just didnt have that engine, he had a stride length of 28 feet so he was strong and could push off the ground far, but speed and distance? That would be the major Greatness factor between Sec and Mow. Im not bashing him, but please, dont say Mow is in Secretariats bloodlines and dont use Fair Play as another reason to say Sec got his greatness from Mow. Thats just not right. I love both, just like I love Zenyatta and Rachel Alexandra or Will Take Charge and Mucho Macho Man so dont think im bashing him, im just stating what my beliefs on the subject are and what people keep bashing Secretariat fans about. Mow was in an era that you HAVE to understand was completely different. They looked at Mow as a king, because back THEN he was a king considering the lack of competition, but Secretariat has truly proven to have that extra Umph in the statistics of his racing/accomplishments.
