Ive now been blocked from Shaykh Faraz Rabbanis page for pointing out that ISIS is getting more critique from Habib Ali, while we were waiting for a dua for tawfiq. Ajeeb. Were told the issue is that people have bad adab. But even when you offer a different view with adab, you get silenced. Anyway, its good to see that many are questioning, with adab, his defence of Habib Alis actions re Sisi (goo.gl/0MEjMY). On the other hand, theres still some thinking the issue is making dua for someone, saying such things as, Its scary and dangerous that making dua for someone to be guided to the right path requires such an explanation and demands such controversy. Of course we should make dua for him...we should make dua for all to be on the straight path and receive guidance of Allah. Do such people seriously think its wanting good for someone that Muslims objecting are against? Seriously? This issue is not making dua for someone. We should make dua for all. The issue, rather, is: 1. Doing something that confers legitimacy on an oppressor, regardless of whether you intended it or not. This is what the *public* dua did at the time it was made. 2. Not accounting the wrongs of an oppressor. This is an obligation. We should not appeal to some aspects of the deen (wanting good for others, wanting hidaya for all) but ignore others (standing against oppression, forbidding evil). 3. Lack of consistency. For some, like ISIS, its all critique of their wrongs and no public dua for tawfiq. For others, like Sisi, its silence on the wrongs and cordial meetings and public dua. This is unjustified and indefensible.
