Ive often noticed young-earthists claiming that humans could not have been created through evolution, because we were made in the image of God. Ive always though that the idea that the image of God was physical was unorthodox. The following verse is one of the passages that illustrates why Christians have not traditionally thought that the imago dei (image of God) is a physical trait. Why would Jesus have to take on the appearance of a human if our physical bodies were the image of God. This is one of the reasons that I suspect that most young-earthists are not Bible readers. 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, 7 but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross! Phillipians 2:6-9
