Ive read an awful lot of Jewish-themed science fiction (theres a lot out there to read). While talking to D. Glenn Arthur Jr. the other day, it occurred to us that in *not one* story I can think of has the question of what to do about the Hebrew calendar if one is on a planet with a radically different length of year than Earth. Do you just keep Jerusalem time and if that means you, say, have two and a bit Jewish years per exoplanet year, thats what you do? Or is this still possibly an open question? Anybody out there whos geeky and knowlegeable enough to posit an answer?
