Ive seen a few people that are on my friends list who are supporting the fact that, despite the fact that it gleaned no intelligence at all, we tortured people (many of whom were completely innocent and had no affiliation with terrorism whatsoever) If you feel this way please unfriend me and save me the time. While you are at it you may consider moving to another country seeing as how you hate America so much. Or, if there is hope for you, imagine this: You are a cab driver in Pakistan. You have nothing to do with terrorism at all. One night you are dragged from your taxi, beaten and thrown into the back of a van. You are then sold to the United States for a bounty and flown half way across the world to Cuba where you are beaten some more. You are urinated on, you have cigarettes put out on your skin. you are water boarded, you are left chained to a wall for days on end and not allowed to sleep. You are told your wife has been gang raped and your entire family has been murdered. Over the next dozen years you are continually tortured for information you do not possess because you are completely innocent. You have not even been charged with a crime. Are there some bad guys in GITMO too? Sure. Bad guys that we helped create. That is a long separate conversation but go and Google Tim Osman to see what I mean. Even these bad guys provided no intelligence that aided us in anyway in this manufactured global perpetual war on terror. In fact torture techniques could have hindered us in that we were getting a lot of false intelligence. If you torture somebody long enough they are going to tell you whatever you want to hear whether or not its true.Torture does not work and even if it did it should not be supported. It is inhumane and Unamerican. If we have to sacrifice our ideals to fight terrorism then the terrorists win. If you support torture you are unwittingly choosing the side of the terrorists.
