Ive seen a lot of people posting about CNA work and i havent said anything but i think i should just post a public message for all who are looking into it: Ive been a cna since July 2010 and i got my certification through wallace. Although it is a better job, grat benefits at most places, and potentially a career for some who will enjoy it, and ive recommended quite a few people to get the certification BEFORE completing nursing school, but from my own personal experience, this isnt an easy job. If you think coming into this field just for the money will make your life easier, think twice. You need to have a strong heart to handle what we go through. There is a lot of physical AND emotional stress that comes with this job. And while most say we dont get paid enough no, we really dont, but thats the way it is. We are overworked and underpaid by a heck of a lot, but this is something you people have to realize when wanting your certification. If youll be one of these who is worried about money, ya its way better than minimum wage, and way better and more reputable for your family and future, but this isnt for you. Your heart has to be in it, or you will NOT last. As a side job to go to college, its still very very hard but great for experience. There was a lady who always said there is a special place in heaven for cnas and all of my clients now think of us as angels sent from above. This job is very rewarding but this is a serious job to take. And if you werent raised to treat others as you want to be treated, find another profession.
