Ive seen people do a lot of shitty things in my life, yet nothing makes me quite as angry as when they take advantage of the kindness of others, especially people they call friends. Whether it be intentional or not, the effect it has on someone is the same. My eyes have been further opened to the true selfishness of others since Sam opened his own shop. Now dont get me wrong, Ive been just as touched by the kindness and generosity of others. Unfortunately right now that is a bit marred by the actions of others that Sam and I consider friends. I dont think these actions are all malicious, but ignorance is no excuse either. I was raised that if someone does something kind for you, you ask what you can do for them, you return the favor. It seems as if some people think that when you have your own business, you have an endless cash flow. They believe you can afford to hook them up, and that your shop supplies and time are free for them to use at their disposal, at no cost to them. This is most definitely not the case. We are trying to keep the lights on, keep a roof over our head, and food on our table, just like everyone else. If youve never owned your own business, I dont expect you to understand the financial and emotional struggles that come along with it. But if you are a true friend, I most certainly do expect you to respect that. Sam is the kindest, most giving person I have ever met. Shame on anyone who takes him for granted. I refuse to sit idly by and watch anyone do it.
