Ive told myself that Im going to stop responding to stuff. This is probably the last time. Tomorrow, I limit the non-sense I respond to. As hard as it is, some things just shouldnt need a response. Anyway, so from looking at my TL from yesterday and today, now black folks shouldnt do the ice bucket challenge because the white man has implanted it into our neighborhoods as a way to distract us from Ferguson. *sigh* The ice bucket challenge has been going on since what.. last year now? It may just be making headlines in the black news, but those of us who do not limit ourselves to black issues (seeing as how ALS primarily effects white people), we have seen the challenges well before Ferguson. Two problems I personally have with that idea, black folks will seek to ruin any and everything. Any footprint can be replicated. Instead of taking the strategy and using it to garnish support for something the black community is concerned with, wed rather bash it and come up with 8000 reasons we shouldnt support it all before we watch our TIVOd copy of DeJango. Sickle cell primarily effects black people... black women more than anyone last I looked, so should be banish white people from fund raising efforts since its not a white disease? Why cant we begin our own challenge for THAT disease??? The ultimate in hypocrisy... While discussing Ferguson the first thing we profess is the robbery is separate from the killing of Brown. Now if we can separate the robbery from the killing, how is it was link the ice bucket challenge to Ferguson? That ice bucket challenge was not put into the hood to distract black folks... That was crack... anyway.. I digress. Excuse me while I go watch the last 30 minutes of DeJango before I do it for the Vine.
