Ive told this story before, but it bears repeating again. In a way, I got my literary agent via community activist Evelyn Yoshimura and Barbara Neely. Evelyn (and I guess her husband, Bruce Iwasaki) introduced me to Barbaras Blanche White amateur sleuth mystery series. I was so taken with Blanche that I solicited Barbara Neelys agency. One of the associate agents sent me an e-mail asking for my whole manuscript and within six months or so, I had literary representation. Earlier in 2014 Brash Books, an enterprise of my friends Lee Goldberg and Joel Goldman, reissued the Blanche White books. (I was able to the blurb the series and have exchanged e-mails with Barbara since then! Talking about coming full circle.) This week the Washington Post blogged about Blanches re-publication. If you are not familiar with the series, heres your chance to read it -- either trade paperback or e-book. washingtonpost/blogs/she-the-people/wp/2015/01/03/blanche-white-maid-turned-sleuth-in-90s-murder-mystery-series-is-back/
