Ive travel from Istanbul to Kiev, Then a little further to Warsaw, - TopicsExpress

Ive travel from Istanbul to Kiev, Then a little further to Warsaw, pushed it to Dubai and have landed in South Africa. I stopped at a pub while I waited for my daughters and the the first stories on the front page of the first newspaper I pick up are about rape and murder. The favourite past time in this country. It happens so often we are no even shocked anymore. I did say I was waiting for my daughters and this is the disgusting filth I have to thrust in my conscience like some festering knife. The next page had more stories of murder and rape and I guess its because I have been living in Turkey and watching the people rise up against their government because they had had enough. The Ukrainians slaughtered by the hundreds because they too said they did not appreciate the way their country was being run, THIER country not the governments. Unfortunately and perhaps because of the weather, part of my mothers garden-wall fell the day I arrived and I was thrown headfirst into the paranoia of living in South Africa with a breach in the home/prison cell defences. Check the electric fence. Call the armed security so they can watch the house through the night. Double check all the security bars and inside beams. Is the alarm on? Have easy access to the gun. It has depressed me in a way I havent felt for a long time. Mostly because I havent seen a security bar on a window let alone armed security standing outside my house all night, where I live. It so sad to watch those countries I mentioned fighting and dying and we, the pathetic, apathetic South Africans suck our thumbs and post clever little pictures on facebook as a protest against our government who is incapable of curing the rotting corpse that is OUR country. Unlike those protesters in Turkey, and Ukraine, we are an armed society. We dont need to throw bottles and bricks because we can throw bullets. There is live ammunition available by the thousands in every community. I am not saying start shooting the police but if the situation because of our right to protest the deplorable diseased state of South Africa, meant we had to clash with the Government then it would be a clash they would think twice about. Those brave citizens, who although they are suffering for it, ARE making a difference. Im tired of this country and Im reading headlines like this, Im tired of electric fences, alarm systems, infra red beams, Im tired of making excuses for having to live as a prisoner in this, one of the most beautiful countrys on the planet. We show the world the lovely mountains, flora and wildlife, but we have to look at it through the prisons we have created to live in this society. The sad thing is that when I voice my opinion, the most intellegent suggestion the citizens of South Africa can give me is, If you dont like, then leave. And that is why South Africans will always live on their knees, cowering in front of the corrupt uncaring Government. Dont worry, the DA will have my vote, if that helps And then yes, I will leave.
