Ivory Coast –The Former first lady Simone GBAGBO at her arrival to the Abidjan court this morning to respond to the trial opens against her by the country authorities. The wife of ex-president Laurent Gbagbo has appeared at the Court in Abidjan this morning to respond to the trials opened against her by the authority of the country. Mrs Gbagbo is standing trial with 82 others pro-Gbagbo all accused for “attempting to undermine the security of the state” during the 2010 post elections that led to a series crisis that brought about thousands of people dead. The 65 –years- old who was subsequently held in custody for three years is also wanted by an International Court for “crimes against humanity”. But despite the allegations against her by the International Criminal Court, the Ivory Coast Justice has repeatedly refused to hand Mrs Gbagbo over to the ICC; they simply claim they have a competent judiciary to judge her locally. So why the same competent system could not try he husband? Following that controversial election, it ensued a great confusion about the final result and a series of violence broke out in Ivory Coast in 2010. Then brutal and fatal confrontations occurred between supporters of Laurent Gbagbo who was declared the winner of the presidential poll by the Ivorian Constitutional Court officially accredited for such role and the international institution, supporting the opponent Allassane Ouattara who was also declared the winner by the Ivorian Election Commission (CEI) at the Golf Hotel. It is relevant to note that this confusion about who was the real winner has never been explained and led the country to violent and crimes for more than five months. However on 11th April 2011 by the French forces bombarded in a cynical manner their residence allowing the rebels to capture and humiliate the couple. It is paramount to report that French forces bombardments destroyed many military camps and other strategic places in the capital. Laurent and Simone Gbagbo were then taken to different places in the North of the country where they have been held for three years before Gbagbo was recently taken to the Hague Court to face allegation of crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court (ICC). NB: I would like all readers to thoroughly analyse and give me feedback about this direct military interference in an independent country’s local elections by France (former colonial power). Why France has not yet been sue to Court by ICC for this illegal intrusion? As far as I am concerned I still ask myself if ICC is a transparent and credible institution. ~ By a facebooker youtu.be/W0q-cfpCDn4
