I’m celebrating our 1 month anniversary with a week of mushrooms - TopicsExpress

I’m celebrating our 1 month anniversary with a week of mushrooms named after mycologists. Mushroom species named after people typically end in two i’s, but sometimes one i, or ‘iana’ if it is a feminine name. First, I’ll post the genus and species of mushroom. Second, I’ll post a link to a description of that mushroom. Third, I’ll post a link to a biography of the person. Please share a short story if you’ve met a given mycologist. August 1st: Hydnellum peckii (Charles Horton Peck). From ‘mushroomthejournal’: “Peck described 2500-3000 new species, describing them in either the Bulletin of the State Museum, or its Annual Report. In addition to his numerous individual descriptions, he also monographed the boletes, tooth fungi, and gilled fungi for all of North America.” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydnellum_peckii mushroomthejournal/greatlakesdata/Authors/Peck22.html
