I’m really happy to hear that many Italian pilgrims have interest in Kumano-kodo(pilgrimage). As I spoke in Poland,Kumano pilgrimages have 5 route. (Well there is one more, called “Omine-Okugake”,but that route is really “Sacred” route and mountain ascetic walked there as training,so not suitable for “normal pilgrims”.) I walked ISE-Route and Nakahechi-ROute. Ise route is about 220km. From Ise-shrine(very famous Japanse Shrine) to Kumano-hongu. Nakahechi route is about 90~60KM,its depend where you start. Anyway, this website tells frame of Kumano pilgrimages. japan-guide/e/e4952.html This page have detail about Nakahechi-route,(about60~90Km,depend on where you start) but this page also have information of another route. And this page can make reservation of pensions of Nakahechi. tb-kumano.jp/en/kumano-kodo/#nakahechi This page have very good map.(mainly Nakahechi-route) tb-kumano.jp/en/kumano-kodo/maps/ This page have information and map about Ise-route,(I wrote about book!). kumadoco.net/kodo_eng/index.html kumadoco.net/kodo/map/index.html#eng This page have map about Kohechi route. Kohechi start from Sacred mountain KOYA. I haven’t walked yet but this route will be good, too.(but a bit mountain.not hill or plain) vill.totsukawa.lg.jp/static/map_kheng_dl.htm vill.totsukawa.lg.jp/static/koheti_map.htm In Nakahechi route, you can find RYOKAN easy. But youd better to make reservation. In Ise-route,it isnt easy to find RYOKAN.But I could find RYOKAN and I can tell you where I stayed. So if you walk Ise-route,I will give you information about Ryokan in Ise-route. When you make reservation, you need speak Japanese. So if you walk there,I will help you some how. Price of RYOKAN(like pension but Japanese style). Of course it depend on each Ryokan, but I think about… 4000yen-6000yen for only sleep. 4500yen-6000yen for breakfast and sleep. 6500yen-8400yen for breakfast and dinner and sleep. I know it’s not cheap,so I advised to public servant of Mie-prefecture and Wakayama-prefecture that you’d better to make alburgue for pilgrims. Anyway. Well, if you need more information, feel free to mail me. (you know my email address? hiroko@hirokofukumoto ) By the way Andrea,I’m planning to walk Sardegna this year. But as you know I only can stay 3 month in Europe without visa. But I want to walk sardegna and other route. So now I’m thinking and I think I need to go to a embassy. (But I don’t know which country? because we don’t have EU embassy, anyway!) So maybe I will ask you about Camino in Sardegna . Hope we can meet again!
