I’ve been watching more movies lately with my hunny, so here’s my latest batch of reviews, complete with mostly arbitrary ratings. The To Do List (Aubrey Plaza) 7/10. A funny, raunchy, coming-of-age story from the female perspective. Plaza’s dry sense of humor is served well here. Plus the movie was set in the 90’s, which made for some fun nostalgia. The Campaign (Will Ferrell, Zack Galifianakis) 4/10. A bland and predictable over-exaggeration of American politics, a little more subtlety might’ve gone a long way. It had a couple of good gags, but for the most part this movie was a practice in mediocrity, with an ending that should’ve been vetoed altogether. Welcome to the Jungle (Jean-Claude Van Damme) 7/10. I went into this movie expecting it to be average at best, but it exceeded my expectations. The main character, as a worker who gets stepped on in a dead end job, is relatable, and so it was fun to watch him survive the elements and overcome the sorts of people that would’ve held him down under normal circumstances. But what made this movie different from other comedies, were the great, and often unexpected bits by Van Damme. I’d love to see him do more comedies. https://youtube/watch?v=kRzSImxqQtA
