I’ve found that aerial dance is an immersive artistic community, full of broke, hard-working individuals focused on the performative qualities of being in the air. Their dream is just to be on stage and have the opportunity to create. Pole, on the other hand, has built itself up to be a fitness related community with a large push in the direction of commercialization. It’s sold as a workout for the average, every day woman and headed up by idolized professionals notorious for being in insane peak physical condition. People still make very little money in pole just as they do aerial, but there are far more famous “pole-ebrity” touring professionals as well as handfuls of competitions that make a profit off of the hard work and personal monetary investments of each competitor every year, and those are only growing in number. In a post that has spawned a lot of conversation between our bloggers with various opinions, we felt we should share it here too. Thanks for introducing us to this post Bex of Spinning Love Story. Keep in mind this artist is a poler and an aerialist and you can agree and disagree in ways that are respectful. livesoftheaerialists/post/102879680885/pole-the-red-headed-stepchild-of-aerial #blogger #circus #aerialists
