J.B. Watsons Esso/Exxon station on Oleander Drive, just east of South College Road. He had a huge wall of short wave radio gear, and my dad would take us there, after dinner, to watch J.B. and the boys fiddle with the radios. The men would stand around, drinking Falstaffs and telling war stories, while us kids would pull 6oz Cokes out of the ice box and feed the pistachio vending machine nickels all night. Wed go home with bright red fingers from the dye on the nuts, and our feet sore from jumping up and down on the air hose alarm out by the fuel pumps.
