J Duke Anago > Igboville - The fraud called National Identify Card from NIMC Few days ago, i went with my beautiful wife to take a picture at Studio 24 in Enugu. When we finished, we requested for soft copy with no logo. They gave us their price list. Ones with no logo will cost us N1000 while the ones with the logo will cost us N500. I smiled and told my wife lets go for the ones with no logo. My wife been my domestic economist advised we should not waste money on the ones priced N1000, but we should simply go for that of N500. I did not want to drag it and i agreed. When they finished editing the picture, they could not transfer it to our mobile phone as we both are apple family and the system they use are not compatible with our devices. So they need to burn it on a CD Rom or put it on a flash drive. I have one (flash drive) at home which is a few miles down the road. I then dashed out to get the flash while my wife went to see HALF OF A YELLOW SUN movie which i declined to watch since i have already seen the movie in the UK and also cant afford to miss my premiership that just started that weekend. To cut the long story short, i came back with the flash drive, added extra money and went for those without logos. The reason why i made that decision i will explain below. As a brand consultant having studied branding in my masters degree level, i know quite a lot about a company logo. Many small business owners spend weeks coming forward with a business plan and days inventing the perfect company name, but another key element in marketing your brand is your logo. A logo is a visual representation that appears on company signs, paper and advertisements that customers use to identify your company. The best logos offer more than simple identification: they also give clients a sense of your companys character and values. Its significance cannot be overemphasized because a company logo stands for your company’s identity. It creates your customers’ first impression of your company. The best logos send a message to consumers about the company’s values, create brand loyalty and give company letterhead, vehicles and signs a more professional appearance. However, all these are not the reason why i declined logo. i declined because i have come to dislike logos that tell people what you wear, where you visited, the company you are associated and most importantly, i have friends who are photographers that can take those pictures more than studio 24 did...But my wife prefers Studio 24 and you and i know that to keep your home peaceful and happy, your spouse should make 80 percent of social decisions. Therefore, it is with sadness in my heart when i confirmed unequivocally that our NATIONAL IDENTITY CARD has master card logo embedded on it. Using the above analysis i gave about what transpired in Studio 24, it simply tells you that DG NIMC must have cut himself a great deal with master-card for them to allow their logo to be on our national ID card. It is either, that master card are going to fund the card free which is most likely as the one i have with my bank was free which simply means any fiscal budget for this card should simply be refunded because this deal is clearly a Public Private Partnership (PPP) agreement between NIMC officials and master cards. And in PPP agreement, government which is the public sector do not fund projects..Private sectors do. If the case is not a PPP project, then they are remunerated heavily for getting involve in this 21st century brand endorsement over the head of more than 150 million Nigerians. Remember, national ID card is issued to all citizens irrespective of age unlike other cards such as driving licence that comes to you from attaining 18 and above. This national ID card is in form of our domestic international passport. While we use the international passport as our identity abroad, we use a national ID card as our identity within the shores of Nigeria. Therefore, now is the time we call for total rejection of the card or master card will have to pay anybody that signs for the ID card for marketing of their brand or government come out clear and tell us that this is a PPP kind of project and the amount budgeted on this on our fiscal budget refunded forthwith after all PPP is an off balance sheet expenses globally. Another clear example that this is a sham arrangement is what i will present below again. Halifax Bank UK pays £100 to anybody that opens an account with them. Yes open account, they pay you N28,000 naira. My Sky TV pay me £100 (N28,000) naira for any customer i introduce that sign up. If Mastercard cut such deal with NIMC to pay them N14,000 naira for each card (that is 50% discount of what sky TV pays anyone who gets them a actual customer) then master card will be paying so much for this deal which we are not made aware of. We have actually been taken for a ride once again by those in authority. REJECT THE NATIONAL IDCARD UNTILL WE KNOW THE TRUTH. J Duke Anago
