JAKARTA , KOMPAS - The government gives back the condition kapada PT Freeport Indonesia ( Freeport ) if it wants to operate in Indonesia .This time , the government asked the US mining company to build a smelter in Papua .We asked the company to build a smelter in Papua , in addition to which there is now in East Java ( Gtesik ) , said Director General of Mineral, Coal R.Sukhyar at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources , Jakarta , Tuesday ( 12/23/2014 ) .Furthermore , he said , the government gives time until 2020 to Freeport to build the smelter .While related to the capacity of the smelter , the government handed it over to Freeport .Sukhyar asserted that the government does not want to know the amount of smelter capacity .The important thing he said , Freeport required to build a smelter in Papua .Perhaps investment ( smelter ) 1.5 billion dollars , he said .Previously, Freeport has been required to make marketers in Gresik, East Java .The government also gave a deadline until 2017 until the completion of the smelter .Unfortunately , until now still very small development programs .The original plan , until January 26, 2015 , Freeport Indonesia held advanced optimization activities feasibility study ( FS ) , specify the location , complete the environmental impact assessment permit ( EIA ) as well as meet other licensing smelternya .If until January 26 Freeport Indonesia does not fulfill its obligations , the Ministry of Energy will hold an extension of the company SPE .
