JAMES CHIN - RSO Young Artists Competition Winner/ High School James Vernon Chin was born in Loma Linda, California. He started piano at the age of 4, and joined the piano studio of Lilly Diehl in 2007 where his talents began to flourish. In 2008, he was the winner of the Loma Linda Sacred Music Festival, as well as the Southern California Junior Bach Festival winner in 2008, 2009, and 2010. He was also a member of the National Piano Guild from 2007 to 2009. Since moving to Georgia in 2010, he has studied piano under Dr. Jerico Vasquez, Artist-in-Residence at Shorter University. He was the winner of the RMTA Jazz and Pop Festival in 2011 and Baroque Competition in 2013. He is currently enrolled at Georgia Cumberland Academy and is on the Basketball team. James enjoys playing the piano, listening to all kinds of music, basketball, and hanging out with friends. James Chin will perform Beethovens Piano Concerto in C major, 1st movement with The Rome Symphony Orchestra at The Young Artists Competition, Saturday, April 26, 2014 7:30 PM at The Rome City Auditorium.
