JAMMU: A big haul of banned Polythene carry bags was made by Excise sleuths at Toll Post Lakhanpur here today, a police spokesperson said. He said that a vehicle bearing registration No JK02AW-0828 was put on routine check at Toll Post Lakhanpur by the assessing officer on duty. The vehicle was declared to be carrying ‘Potatoes” by the driver but during the physical checking it was found loaded with 9000 Kgs of Polythene carry bags, he added. “During the physical checking another fake Challan of “Triple” was also found from the truck. The driver of the vehicle fled away from the spot leaving behind his truck. The vehicle has been seized for compounding fine under J&K Levy of Tolls Act and will be handed over to the Commercial Taxes Department for further action at their end”, he said. The whole operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner, Dr Mushtaq Ahmed along with Excise and Taxation Officers.
