JANUARY / FEBRUARY 2014 EDITION Dear Colleague, Greetings from Cologne! 2014 is most certainly going to be all about harmonization. So many people have voiced their frustration with all the duplication and additional costs of getting certified and have urged us to take action. As you will see from our newsletter, we’re right on track. We kicked off the year with three completed projects that are perfect examples for how harmonization can work: 2 National Interpretation Guidelines in Latin America and 1 re-benchmarking in Africa. In February, we’re going to be at Fruit Logistica 2014 in Berlin, so do come by and share with us your ideas of how we can advance our harmonization efforts. And be sure not to miss our annual news conference with key retailer representatives, including from Tesco and Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc, who will be sharing their market outlooks and expectations. Our GLOBALG.A.P. SUMMIT 2014 is in Abu Dhabi this year! I’m particularly excited about this year’s conference. In the conference’s 12-year history, this will be the second time we leave Europe. The first time was a milestone event. We went to Bangkok where we changed our name from EurepGAP to GLOBALG.A.P. Now we’re heading to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates and one of the key gateways to Asia and Africa.
