JKDF activists protests against PWD Department Jammu, August 25 (Scoop News)- A protest demonstration was held by JKDF activists at Pacca Kotha in Billwar Assembly segment against the PWD Department and local MLA Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma. The protest demonstration was held after a deputation from the area met JKDF State President Anil Gupta few days ago and apprises him about their grievances related to poor developmental activities and lack of basic amenities in different villages of Bilwar Assembly Segment. Moreso, the deputation was aggrieved with the Government apathy especially the local MLA who has the responsibility and accountability to address the public issues. On advice of State President Anil Gupta large number of activists of JKDF Youth Wing and Student union led by Munish Khajuria (State Youth President JKDF) and Kapil Shastri (State Youth Secretary JKDF) gathered at Pacca Kotha and shouted slogans against the concerned Department and MLA to highlight the demands of people. Condemning State Government’s indifferent attitude, Munish Khajuria said, “Since 1947, there is no road connectivity to atleast a dozen villages like Parangoti, Kadetra, Sunkhal, Kamar, Saida, Badoli, Kandrad and many others of the Kandi area falling in Bilawar Assembly segment of District Kathua. Approximately 20000 people residing in the area are suffering due to the discriminative attitude of Government and lack of concern by the elected MLA of the area Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma to address their long pending demand of proper road connectivity and providing of basic amenities of life. Due to depilated conditions of roads in the said villages the area turns into virtual ponds during the rainy season and mud plays the havoc in the area. Children and local population faces tremendous difficulties to reach out to schools and perform their day to day work due to poor road connectivity. We appeal the Government to take immediate steps to restore the road connectivity in the said villages else people will have no choice but to come on the streets ” Even the buses and other transport could not ply on the area due to non connectivity of the roads. Patients with serious ailments face difficulties to reach hospitals, even some expire due to not getting the timely treatment. Local MLA and PWD should take serious note of the poor infrastructure development in the area or be prepared to face the public wrath. JKDF will strongly agitate over the issue if the problems of people are not addressed immediately., “ Said Kapil Shastri.
