JOB ALERT. We are seeking a Director of Revenue Recognition for an opportunity in Gaithersburg, MD. The director of revenue recognition documents and manages revenue recognition positions on all customer arrangements; manages month-end close activities including assurance of accurate and timely results; reviews and supports all revenue recognition disclosures in all SEC filings; monitors industry and regulatory changes and develops new processes and policies; maintains and updates internal Sarbanes Oxley documentation for revenue recognition and supports internal audits of related controls; reviews customer contracts for revenue recognition implications and may assist with structuring non-standard transaction details. Primary responsibilities include: responsible for complying with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 requirement as related to revenue recognition and quarterly reviews and annual year-end audit; utilizes knowledge of applicable software to ensure revenue is reported accurately for proper commission calculations; leads cross-functional efforts and provides training with groups outside of corporate accounting to ensure all sources of revenue are properly reviewed for accounting purposes and processed on a timely basis; interacts with the company’s external auditors and provides necessary support in connection with the company’s quarterly reviews and annual audit to ensure timely completion of these external compliance requirements; may be required to interact with internal and external counsel as necessary to ensure that revenue recognition compliance requirements are identified and met; assists the Financial Planning and Analysis staff in preparing the company’s annual budget and long range plan specifically as it relates to the determination of software revenue; performs other related tasks and duties as assigned.
