The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success. Responsibilities Scope of Position: • Leads the development and execution of Global Supply Management Strategic Sourcing strategies, policies, tactics and objectives for assigned global commodities that align and are linked with the business units, commercial, supply chain and manufacturing strategies. • Manages Strategic Sourcing of Supply Chain Materials required for Corning Gilbert and globally for key commodities, capital expenditures, and/or services. • Coaching and Mentoring of local global supply management staff. Day to Day Responsibilities: • Develops and/or assists with Strategic Sourcing plans and objectives (short & long term) based on forecasts and taking into account economic and currency trends and conditions that affect GSM, the business, and the global commodity sourced. • Works with the CCS Business teams (domestic and international) to assure supply and mitigate supply risk on critical materials and services. • Works with the Business, GSSM, and Buyers on assigned global commodities to prepare and solicit competitive bids, quotations, and proposals with pertinent specifications, terms, and conditions. • Develops and reviews specifications, statements of work, performance terms and accept/reject criteria. • Conducts negotiations with potential and/or current major suppliers to obtain maximum value. • Negotiates supply agreements. Develops and executes contracts. • Identifies, selects, qualifies, and deploys suppliers to impacted locations. • Leads the development and communication of global supply intelligence for assigned commodities. • Owns the Supplier Relationship Management process for the assigned commodities. • Develops and cultivates effective relationships with suppliers. • Develops, maintains, and executes Shared Objectives and Service Level Agreements. • Champions and advocates for the Global Buying Policy. Ensures compliance. • Mentors and guides plant buyers as required with assigned commodities and on GSM procedures and processes. Travel Requirements: • 30% travel. • Trips to US and international Corning and supplier sites for contract negotiation, supplier business reviews, supplier development, site audits, project coordination and/or issue resolution. • Travel also includes domestic travel associated with training and development, strategic sourcing and industry conferences. Requirements Required Education: Bachelor degree Required Years and Area of Experience: • 10 years’ experience in procurement, operations, planning, and engineering. Required Skills: • Problem solving, decision making and project management skills. Able to develop a procurement strategy and then execute. • Communications skills: Able to communicate effectively and appropriately both written and verbal with internal and external colleagues. Able to write supplier agreements and contracts, material specifications, business proposals, etc. • Matrix Management skills: understand big picture… and effectively manage details • Customer focus: Able to gather and understanding customer requirements and objectives • Financial, business, Should Cost and Total Cost of Ownership analysis and communication using spreadsheets, Power Point etc. Desired Skills: • Knowledge of SAP. • Knowledge of negotiations and supplier management processes. • Knowledge of strategic sourcing processes. • Knowledge of commodity based raw materials and markets such as Metals, Resins and Fiber Optic based components and products and Contract Manufacturing. • Project Management skills. Soft Skills (Communication/Team/Leadership): • Ability to work with multiple suppliers and “customers”…many people requesting support/assistance at all levels of the organization. Ability to drive deployment. • Ability to lead and work effectively on team projects. Builds consensus. Uses negotiation skills to resolve conflicts.
