JOHANNES KEPLER (1571-1630): A MATHEMATCIAN, ASTRONOMER, THEOLOGIAN, ASTROLOGER, AND PROFOUND SCIENTIST. Many of us believe we can make it only with the certificates we have. We also often allow life challenges to derail us from archieving our goals in life. These were not the case with Johannes Kepler, one of the greatest scientist that had ever lived, and the greatest scientist when it comes to matters of the space and celestial bodies. Though he studied Theology and Lutheranism from the University Of Tubingen, he ended up being a professor of mathematics and Astronomy. He lost his first wife and two sons, he remarried and again lost two infant daughters. His mother was acused of witchcraft who he defended successfully. He was ex- communicated by the Lutherian church where he refused ordination because he disagreed with them on some issues. But in all these, he never stop serving God and he still made it to the top. Kepler was born around 1pm on December 27th 1571 in Weil de Stadt Wurttemberg in Germany by poor parents. He was born premature and he had a sickly childhood. He developed interest in space sciences in Prague under the tutorship of a man called Tycho Brahe, after he ( Kepler) was force to leave his mathematics teaching post in Graz. He contributed immensely to many aspects of mathematics including Geometry and Calculus. He developed the first telescope that could view the heavenly bodies, he propounded the THREE LAWS OF PLANETARY MOTION, He successfully calculated the distances between the celestial bodies, the sun, the moon, the stars and the nine planets. He wrote many books on astronomy and astrology which include ASTRONOMIA NOVA and the first outspoken defence on CORPERNICAN SYSTEM called MYSTERIUM COSMOGRAPHICUM which all have to do with the formation and composition of the celestial bodies. He used science to explain the greatness of God and he always attributed his success and archievements to God whom he served passionately, though he was not ordained as a pastor. Kepler died at the age of 58 on November 15th 1630 while on a journey to collect debt in Regensburg in Germany. He was buried in a local church which was later destroyed during the 30 years war. I pray God will help us to attain greatness despite our challenges like this man in Jesus name.
