JOURNEY TO DEVOUT LIVING THU 24/07/2014 MORNING DEVOTIONS SING/CHANT/READ PSALM: 50 READING: Matt 13:1-9,18-23 COMMENTS: Joy and peace to you my FAM&FRENZ today! The wonder of his grace and mercy towards us! Only a loving God can love like that... And then commit to helping us become like him as was his intent and purpose. As we examine ourselves let us look at our response to the word in the context of the parable...what happens when we hear the truth of the word of GOD? The question we must really ask ourselves is how do we respond to the prevailing strategies of the evil one having received the word of GOD in our hearts? 1. Do we evaluate the many thoughts and spiritual influences that enter our minds contrary to the word of God or do we just at face value accept the doctrines because they sound plausible? This is how we behave with the soil like the path. Superficial with no reasoning or rationale or understanding. 2. Are we able to cope when we encounter the pain and challenges of this world of sin and death where we have deeply rooted belief in the word of God and his promises to us...or do we wilt and panic and give up all hope? This is how we behave when we have rocks in the soil. 3. Are we distracted from the journey of deepening our faith in GODs word to witness to the truth of it, by giving the temporal things of this world a higher priority than the eternal promises of GOD? This is how we behave when the soil is full of thorny bush. LET US PRAY: Father, we thank you for your glorious gift of grace and its wealth of blessings in spite of who we are with all our fallenness. Help us, through your HOLY SPIRIT, in the reconditioning of our hearts. Help us first to face the truth of the condition of our hearts that we may acknowledge our need for your redemptive work in JESUS, YOUR SON so that we may progress to surrender our bodies more fully to the possession of your HOLY SPIRIT TO WITNESS TO THE DEVOUT LIFE YOU CALL US TO. Renew our understanding of our need and of your available grace and power to achieve this purpose in us. May we trust you in this through the finished works and name of your SON, OUR SAVIOUR , JESUS THE CHRIST. AMEN!
