JUAN LUIS GUERRAs music has marked my life in so many ways. Listening to his music, I am immediately transported to the Saturday evenings at Mamis apartment (may she rest in peace) where we laughed, dined and danced with our vecinos (neighbors), primos (cousins), tios (uncles/aunts). His music brings me back to my childhood in the Dominican Republic, mi gente (my people), their smiles and strong spirit. His lyrics uplift my SOUL and reminds me, without fail, that life is beautiful, that love is strong, and the power of mi cultura (my culture).
