JULIUS CAESAR --- # 38 QUOTE: O hateful error, why dost thou show to the ready thoughts of men the things that are not? ANSWER: Act 5, Scene 3, lines 75-77. Messala to himself. The Roman generals Messala and Titinius have now returned to camp and seen Cassius lifeless body. Titinius tells us he believes Cassius death was the result of Pindarus (Cassius servant) mistrust of what was actually happening in the field. Messala offers this quote. Titinius cries Where art thou, Pindarus? Messala says Seek him Titinius, whilst I go to meet the noble Brutus, thrusting this report into his ear. Titinius says Hie you, Messala, and I will seek for Pindarus the while. Messala exits. Titinius asks himself Why didst thou send me forth, brave Cassius? Did not thy friends put on my brows this wreath of victory and bid me give it thee? Alas, thou hast misconstrued everything. He lays the garland (the wreath of victory) on Cassius crow. He says By your leave, gods, this is a Romans part. Come, Cassius sword, and find Titinius heart! Titinius dies on Cassius sword.
