Jacksonville business leaders teamed up to make Home Gardens Park - TopicsExpress

Jacksonville business leaders teamed up to make Home Gardens Park at 6367 Mockingbird Road live up to its name. About 70 members of JAX Chamber’s Councils and volunteers from Northside LOVE Arts and Vendors Market worked on the project as part of Make A Difference Day. They planted flowers, painted playground equipment, built benches, cleared debris, removed graffiti, trimmed trees and effectively transformed the park. The council presidents did a survey and worked with JaxParks to find a project that was important to the community, said Leah Goodwyne, the chamber’s communications and public relations manager. Parents are “so amazed with the transformation” that they now feel safe taking their children there, Goodwyne said. Councils participating included Arlington, Downtown, Mandarin, North, South, West, Health, IT, Professional Women’s Council and Transportation and Logistics. The Beaches Division and ImpactJAX, the chamber’s young professional group, also lent a hand. — The Florida Times-Union jacksonville/community/2014-11-07/story/chamber-councils-help-home-gardens-park-live-its-name
