Jacob Zuma has been the ANC Deputy President since 1997, 10yrs, - TopicsExpress

Jacob Zuma has been the ANC Deputy President since 1997, 10yrs, and Deputy President of the State from 1999 to 2005 when he was recalled by Mbeki, 6yrs, defeated Mbeki in 2007 at the Polokwane Conference to become the President of the ANC. He has been the President of the ANC for the past 7yrs and the Head of State for the past 5yrs. So he has been in the Presidency of the ANC for the past 17yrs. Before that, he was the Deputy Secretary-General to Cyril Ramaphosa. By the way he succeeded Walter Sisulu as the National Chairperson of the ANC. If you add just the 3, he has been in the ANC Top Six for the past 27yrs, which brings me to the reason why Im posting this piece I find it very strange that when the opposition assesses the ANC government, they assess Zuma personally for the past 5yrs and they want to isolate him from ANC successes since 1994, 20yrs back, which defeats logic if you carefully study the above. They acknowledge successess under Mandela and Mbeki but deliberately isolate Zuma, forgetting that he deputised Mbeki twice in government, though he didnt complete his second term as Deputy of the Republic, and so was Mbeki hence he was also recalled by the Zuma-led NEC In other words, the opposition wants to personalise ANC to Mandela and Mbeki despite the fact that Mandela himself kept reminding everybody that he couldnt be defined in isolation of the leadership collective of the ANC, Mbeki too Its crystal clear that its a deliberate personal attack on Zuma by dragging the ANC into that mispaced venomous attack This is deliberate propaganda at its best
