Jacquie Brooks – Canadian dressage Olympian, coach, helmet role model and all around class act posted the following on her facebook page after not getting the scores to be on the Canadian Dressage Team for the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. From Jacquie: “Well, today we didn’t make the WEG Team. After a long nine month score chasing schedule to meet a selection criteria of four scores over 68 we came up just short with another 67. Although three of the judges awarded Goose the much coveted 68% threshold score, two did not. And while the average of his four top scores is over 68, we have had too many near misses this season including a 67.9 during a Florida season with no scores under 67%. I can not be more impressed with our Goose and his consistency. I can not be more thankful to my parents for supporting this dream and finding the bright side of every 67! Mary even has gotten good at telling me why one 67 was so much better than the previous 67! I cannot thank Ashley Holzer enough for her enthusiasm and optimism that with each 67 that the next would be a 68. I want to thank Goose for bringing his all, show after show, and class after class! I want to wish David Marcus, Belinda Trussell, Megan Lane, and Karen Pavicic the best of luck in Normandy. I am proud of Goose for finishing in the reserve spot and hoping his services will not be needed. But if they are, you know he will be willing and able!! And, of course, the support of you all on facebook has been extraordinary!!!!! Go Goose!!! Go Canada!!!!!” And that’s how you win at life. Gold Medal in sportsmanship.
