Jail overturned The Appeals Court canceled a year’s imprisonment term with hard labor issued by the Court of First Instance against a suspect and acquitted him of the charges of stealing his roommate’s civil ID and forging the contracts of a telecommunications company. The victim said the telecommunications company called him to settle outstanding bills of four phone lines he obtained on contract basis and after reviewing the contracts, he discovered the signature on them was forged. Consequently, he accused the roommate of stealing his civil ID and forging his signature on the contracts. By checking the records, they discovered that international calls had been made to Pakistan, so the plaintiff called one of the numbers and discovered it belongs to his roommate in the accommodation. The Attorney argued that his client had committed the crime, stressing the accusation is baseless and without evidence. He also proved that another person was residing with the victim in the same accommodation and he stole the civil ID and forged the contracts of the telecommunications company.
